My 6 week Medifast review – I’m down 31 pounds which is great but it also reminds me of how much further I have to do.
Until this week, it’s been easy. The Medifast food is ok but monotonous. I haven’t been too hungry and I’ve stuck 100% to the foods on the plan. On occasion, I eaten more veggies but when I have it’s been lettuce or celery.
This week, despite my progress, I’ve gotten a bit discouraged by how much farther I have to go. Its going to be months more and then months getting used to eating normal food again.
I can also see myself slipping into a thinking pattern that has been self-destructive for me in the past. That being starting to ruminate or wonder if Medifast is the “best program” or the “the program I should be on” etc. It’s a subtle trick I’ve used in the past to abandon something as it becomes hard. I am reminding myself that it really doesn’t matter what is “best” only that Medifast is working for me and given time, I will reach my goals on it.
I can see how a coach could really help in this process. I’ve been going to the center but I mostly get weighed, check-in and buy more food. I don’t feel comfortable talking about my feelings and emotions in that environment – it’s too public. I think it would be easier one-on-one over the phone (am I doing it again? Questioning my path?)

Tim,
If you want a coach I would be happy to talk. I sent you a private email after you left a comment on my blog. I believe having a personal coach made the difference for me. I had tried almost everything before and without one had failed many times.
Now I help other to loose 100′s of pounds. It is probably one of the most rewarding things I do in my life. I enjoy seeing people get their life back after obesity. If nothing else I will check in on how you are doing and give you a pep talk to hang in there.
It is worth it! If I can do it anyone can.
